Choosing the Right OET Test Preparation Book

Self-study is a key part of your OET journey, and the right book can make a huge difference. A good oet test preparation book should be filled with realistic, profession-specific examples that reflect the tasks you’ll face in the exam. Look for resources that offer clear strategies for writing referral letters, understanding patient consultations, and acing the speaking role-plays. We can guide you to the best books that will complement your studies with us.

OET Speaking Test Preparation: Communicate with Confidence

The speaking sub-test can be the most nerve-wracking part of the exam. Our oet speaking test preparation is focused on practical, hands-on role-plays that simulate the real test. You’ll practice common scenarios, like explaining a diagnosis or reassuring an anxious patient. Our instructors will provide you with immediate, constructive feedback on your clinical language, fluency, and communication skills.

Try an OET Test Sample to See Where You Stand

Not sure where to begin your preparation? The best first step is to take an oet test sample. A sample test gives you a clear picture of the exam format and, more importantly, highlights your current strengths and weaknesses. This allows you to focus your study time where it will have the most impact. You can try a free OET practice exam on our sample test page.

Who Can Take OET?

OET is designed for 12 specific healthcare professions. If you are qualified in one of these fields, this is the test for you:

Why Take OET?

Unlike general English tests, OET uses real healthcare scenarios, which means you are learning language you will use every day at work. It’s recognized by healthcare regulators around the world as proof that you have the English skills needed for safe and effective practice.

How OET Is Scored

The four sub-tests are graded from A (highest) to E (lowest). Each grade corresponds to a numerical score. For example, a Grade B is the minimum score required by most healthcare boards and is equivalent to a score between 350 and 440. Your results are typically released online about 12 business days after the test.

Who Recognizes OET?

OET is accepted by healthcare authorities in many countries for registration, accreditation, and visas, including:

United Kingdom

Accepted by the General Medical Council (GMC) and Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Australia & New Zealand

Accepted for visa purposes and by all major healthcare boards.

Ireland

Recognized by the Medical Council and the Nursing and Midwifery Board.

United States

Accepted by ECFMG for doctors and CGFNS for nurses.

United Arab Emirates

Increasingly recognized by healthcare authorities for licensing
